Last week Nicki Minaj got some bashing from her fans after a new track surfaced on Lil Wayne’s new mixtape Dedicaion 4 of her endorsing Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney.

“I’m a Republican, voting for Mitt Romney, You lazy bitches is fu**in’ up the economy,” Nicki Minaj raps over the Mercy beat.

For the first time President Obama has spoken directly about the song. While in Florida campaigning, the President spoke with Obie and Lil Shawn Morning Show on Power 95.3 radio.

“I’m not sure that’s actually what happened,” President Obama said. “I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that, but she likes to play different characters, so I don’t know what’s going on there.”

After hearing the interview, Nicki Minaj immediately took to Twitter to thank the President for understanding her rap.

“Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support* @BarackObama,” Nicki Minaj tweeted.

“Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question,” she added on Twitter.
