Sparks, fireworks and confetti ruled the day as the 1st ever Soca Royale took place today (July 25th 2010) at Bushy Park St. Philip. The artist put on a show to rival any other in the world, with trying their best to gain the upper hand on their rivals with theatrics. Edwin arrived to the location via helicopter and as if that was not enough he exited the stage in a rally car and proceeded to do donuts on the track. Immediately preceding him was Lil Rick who descended from the 'heavens' on a crane to compliment his opening skit which was a satire about his being "fired" from another radio station earlier this year.

However when the dust confetti and streamers had settled on the competitions which were rife with theatrics, simplicity ruled supreme as TC regained her Sweet Soca crown and Blood reigned as the new Party Monarch. In the Sweet Soca Competition Mikey placed 2nd with My Party and Mr. Dale was 3rd with his infectious Drop It. In Party Monarch Edwin and Soca Kartel tied for 2nd position with Chrissening and Whole Place Mash Up respectively.

The evening was not without controversy, with TC refusing to return to the stage and compete in the soca battle royale against party monarch Blood, a competition which was to be used to determine the winner of the grand prize Kia Serato Koup. Her decision not to compete in this aspect of the days proceedings meant that Blood took the car by default.

The attention now turns to Kadooment day and the road March race with Blood looking to take the momentum from his Party Monarch victory into the last week of Crop Over.
