Alex Jordan did ballet, jazz and tap dancing as a youngster, leading to her starring in local musical productions "Sure La Plage" and "Sleeping Beauty". Simultaneously she excelled in sports, representing Barbados as a swimmer and a junior golfer. At 16, Alex won the prestigious Prince of Wales scholarship to represent Barbados at a United World College where she studied the International Baccalaureate and became fluent in French and Spanish. She went on to receive a Third World Politics degree from McGill University in Third World Poltics and Modern Languges. After University Alex returned to Barbados to front a drive time radio show on the then YESS 104.1 FM, as well as play on the National Womens Squash Team. She fronted the "Plantation Tropical Spectacular", a live show that led Maxi Priest to ask her to come on tour with his team. Instead Alex decided to tour with local band Desire, presenting them on tour across the East Coast of the US - covering 3 states and 15 cities. In the UK, Alex worked for 6 years in A&R (artist and repertoire) for Polydor Records (http://polydor.co.uk/group_artists.php), a Universal Music Group label. There she was involved in the campaigns of Snow Patrol, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), Ronan Keating, James Morrison, Girls Aloud, Ms. Dynamite, Black Eye Peas to name a few. As well as A&R, Alex presented Polydor's artists to Channel 4, EMAP, MTV and also fronted Universal Music's New Music Showcase for 3 years running. Alex Jordan was head hunted to front her own show - "The Soca Music Show" on BBC 1Xtra, the UK's only national Soca Music show, and worked as a presenter on BBC Radio 1, BBC 5 Live, BBC Radio 3, BBC World Service and still contributes to the BBC Caribbean Service. Alex covered the Football World Cup in Germany for BBC 1 Xtra, and has also covered Carnivals in Rotterdam, Berlin, New York, Grenada, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago for several BBC stations and MTV Base. Alex Jordan received a Silver Sony Award 2008/2009 for her coverage of Leeds and Notting Hill Carnivals for BBC Radio 1. She recently resigned from BBC 1Xtra to return to her native Barbados where she fronted and co-produced "Game On" for Sportsmax TV in Jamaica. This led ESPN Caribbean to enlist her as one of their Caribbean correspondents. Alex Jordan has now joined the team of the all new SLAM 101.FM - fronting the Breakfast Show.
