DIDDY GIVES ARTISTS A VOICE WITH REVOLT MUSIC NETWORK

Sean “Diddy” Combs is taking television into his own hands. The music mogul has officially announced REVOLT, a music-oriented cable channel set to launch next year.
REVOLT is billed as the first network to combine music and social media in real time for the video-centric generation. It will be distributed by Comcast as part of its initiative to add more minority-owned networks.
“I’m honored by the opportunity to be part of this effort to bring diverse programming to the masses,” stated Diddy. “Marked by this partnership with Comcast, my hope is that this new network will spark a revolution in entertainment and encourage other media and communications companies to bring REVOLT to their audiences.”
The REVOLT platform will produce dynamic music content and serve as a destination for music fans and artists under the leadership of Combs.
“REVOLT TV is bringing that revolution that television needs,” explained Diddy in a YouTube video. “I grew up watching BET and MTV and HBO and NBC and I had a dream that one day I would get a chance, an opportunity to show myperspective coming from a musical standpoint.”
Diddy wants to give artists more creative freedom. “I take a lot of pride in having experience and credibility, the authenticity, and the relationships to make REVOLT TV the #1 name in home for music on television,” he said. “I’m gonna give the artist this channel. It’s your channel to do what you wanna do, how you wanna do it.”

CHRIS BROWN WISHES EX RIHANNA A HAPPY BIRTHDAY ON TWITTER

\"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN!\" her ex Chris Brown, 22, tweeted early Monday morning, to which the singer, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, replied with a quick \"Thanks!\"

Rihanna turns 24 this year.

The \"We Found Love\" singer\'s fans quickly posted responses of disbelief and disapproval, with \"OMG\" and \"WTF\" comments flying around the Web.

The musical pair, who split in 2009 after Brown assaulted Rihanna during a dispute the night before the Grammys, have been recently rumored to have reconciled.

According to Vibe.com, Brown may appear as a guest vocalist on Rihanna\'s \"Birthday Cake (Remix).\"

The two last collaborated on the hit \"Cinderella (Umbrella Remix)\" while they were still dating.

Rumors have also been swirling that the two have been seeing each other in more than just the professional sense — with sources telling Us Weekly that \"Rihanna loves to live dangerously and talking to and hooking up with Chris is all part of that.\"

At the time, Brown\'s rep denied the reports, saying that the two were \"just friends.\"

Brown is currently dating model Karrueche Tran, 23, and the pair are reportedly happy together, despite the fact that Brown and Rihanna still tweet loving messages at one another.

\"Karrueche thinks Chris\' studio is where most of the hookups have taken place,\" a source told Us Weekly back in January, though another source added that Brown\'s new girl \"won\'t give him up for a few discretions.\"

PIERS MORGAN CALLS BOBBY BROWN \"DISRESPECTFUL\"

CNN anchor Piers Morgan addressed Bobby Brown’s appearance at Whitney Houston’s funeral today, labeling the singers actions “disrespectful” for leaving.

Piers Morgan made the comment at the end of Whitney Houston’s funeral, as attendees left the New Baptist Hope church in Newark, New Jersey.

Morgan, who did not attend the funeral, seemed to trash Bobby Brown in front of a national audience.

Bobby Brown defended his choice to leave, saying that although he was harassed by security and is “distraught” over the incident, he chose to leave quietly, to prevent creating a scene.

“My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions,” Bobby Brown said in a statement. “I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.”

CNN’s Don Lemon cleared up the controversy, during an interview with the Reverend Jesse Jackson, who sat on the stage for Houston’s entire funeral.

According to Rev. Jackson, Whitney Houston’s family did not accommodate Bobby Brown and members of his entourage, prompting the R&B singer to leave his ex-wife’s funeral.

“They wanted him to move, and I don’t think they made proper accommodations for him,” Rev. Jackson told CNN’s Don Lemon. “They couldn’t make proper accommodations for him, so they asked him to leave. That was a very difficult moment for all of us. I tried to get him to stay, but they wouldn’t make room for him.”

Rev. Jackson confirmed that Bobby Brown left the funeral quietly and peacefully, despite growing reports that there was some sort of altercation

“He came, he said in the front row, but they said that was reserved for family of which is a part and a real sense,” Rev. Jackson said. “He is Bobbi-Kristina’s father, and she [Whitney] was his wife. To me it seemed they could’ve accommodated him better then they did.”

Bobby Brown has had a history of bad blood with Whitney Houston’s family, because the family believes the singers drug and alcohol addiction help enable Whitney Houston.

Mayor Cory Booker said police are investigating the matter.

RAY J AND BOBBY BROWN RESPOND TO WHITNEY\'S DEATH

A week after the death of R&B/pop songstress Whitney Houston, her close friend Ray-J has broken his silence regarding the news-making tragedy.

In a released statement, Ray J expressed his sadness over Houston’s demise while noting how close he was to the influential vocalist.

“Over the past few days, I’ve tried to process the emptiness that I am experiencing. What my heart feels cannot be expressed in words,” stated the 31-year-old entertainer, who spent time with Houston days before her death. “The world lost an icon, but I lost my close friend.”

“Nippy, I miss you so much! You were so happy and full of love,” Ray J continued. “Your smile will live in my heart forever.”

News of Houston’s death has dominated headlines this week, with mourners voicing their grief via Twitter and Facebook and a surge in sales of he 48-year-old singer’s music. Houston died last Saturday (February 11) at a hotel in Beverly Hills. Authorities concluded that there were no indications of foul play and no obvious signs of trauma to Houston’s body after an autopsy was performed on her the following day. Media sources report the Grammy winner was found submerged in her bathtub by a member of her personal staff

An official cause of death for Houston will not be determined for weeks, in light of toxicology tests currently being done by the coroner’s office.

Houston’s funeral, which will be broadcast online and on BET, will take place today (February 18) at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. Among those expected to attend the private, invitation-only service are the singer’s godmother, Aretha Franklin, Ray J’s sister, Brandy, Clive Davis, Dionne Warwick, Kim Burrell, Cece Winans, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Donnie McClurkin, Rickey Minor, Tyler Perry, and Kevin Costner, Houston’s co-star in the movie, The Bodyguard. The Rev. Marvin Winans will preside over the funeral.

Despite reports of him being banned from attending the service, Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown will be at the funeral. On Thursday (February 17), Brown paid tribute to Houston while performing on tour with his former group New Edition in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

“I’d like to say thank you for your prayers…I’d like to say thank you. Period. I’m gonna throw two up for Whitney,” Brown said while throwing up a peace sign. “That’s my love.”

While his grief was apparent, Brown noted how important it is to not dwell on unpleasant events.

“Life is life. You have to move on sometimes,” he shared. “I love her like I love God.”

After paying his respects to Houston, Brown will return to the stage Saturday evening at a scheduled performance with New Edition in Uncasville, Connecticut, and Sunday (February 19) in Newark.

WHITNEY HOUSTON FAMILY FEARS BOBBY BROWN IS AFTER HER MILLIONS

US reports say they are worried he is trying to get close to daughter Bobbi Kristina, 18, to get to the cash.
Bobbi is the sole heir to Whitney’s estimated £12.8million fortune.
Now showbiz site TMZ is reporting the star’s mum Cissy is trying to stop Brown from getting his hands on the money.
Friends of the family have told him they hold him responsible for Whitney’s drug and alcohol problems — and banned him from her funeral.
Brown is understood to be aware of the bad blood, but is desperately trying to build bridges.
It comes amid claims Whitney, 48, had been drinking almost every day leading up to her death.
She is said to have fallen off the wagon following the end of filming for Sparkle.
TMZ reports her family was allegedly concerned that her friends were accommodating her craving for drinks.
But rumours she may have been using aliases to get prescriptions from doctors were scotched.
There was said to be no evidence she or her doctors ever did anything illegal or out of the ordinary.
This comes after fears the singer could have used fake names, like the late king of pop Michael Jackson, to get medicines.
So far no official cause of death has been recorded into her death.
The latest claims come after the singer told pals she felt her “time was coming” and spoke of “seeing Jesus” in the hours before her death.
The tragic star is said to have become increasingly spiritual — quoting Bible passages and saying she felt her end was near before she was found dead in a bath at the Beverly Hilton hotel, Los Angeles, on Saturday.
Her body was flown to New Jersey by private jet late Monday ahead of her funeral, which will be held Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church, in her hometown Newark.
The private service will be broadcast live to give her fans a chance to say their farewells to the singer.
This will be their only opportunity as there will be no public memorial for the singer.
Whitney is thought to be set to be buried next to her father John Russell Houston Jr who died in 2003.

The National Stadium was filled to capacity as thousands of persons came out to the Machel Monday concert on Monday night.

The event saw persons from all over the country making their way to Port-of-Spain to be a part of the action at the highly anticipated fete.

Machel Montano was the feature artist but brought along other artistes such as Terri Lyons, Nadia Baston, Kerwyn Du Bois, Kes the Band, Benjai and even Bennie Man.

The fete also shone the light on international superstar Pitbull, who has collaborated with Machel Montano on numerous occasions.

BRANDY AND MONICA REMEMBER WHITNEY HOUSTON AT VIDEO SHOOT

Brandy and Monica shared a personal bond with WhitneyHouston. Just days before her death, the singers spent time with their friend at rehearsals for Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party. “E! News” caught up with them on set of the Chris Robinson-directed video for their new single “It All Belongs to Me” on Monday, where they shared memories of the late legend.
“She’s the reason why I sing. It’s just crazy, it’s so crazy,” said an emotional Brandy, who was at a loss for words. “Every step I make I’m gonna do my best to make her proud and that’s all I can do.”
Monica recalled first meeting Whitney when she was 14. “She was a jokester. I don’t know if people really understood that she was hilarious,” Mo told Clinton Sparks. “The other day, she came in and she heard mine and Bran’s song and she walksup to me and she goes, ‘You killin’ that run at the end.’ She was like, ‘And you know I know you stole it from me, right?’”

Lil Wayne is not engaged. However, he did pull off an unforgettable Valentine’s Day for his girlfriend by surprising her with a massive ring.
TMZ reports that Weezy took his main squeeze Dhea on a romantic date at a fancy Miami restaurant on Tuesday night.
He secretly gave the wait staff at Barton G. The Restaurant a ring with a giant yellow rock on it and asked them to put it inside their signature Sabrina Sundae, which costs $43 and comes with 12 scoops of ice cream, toppings, and sparklers.
After the dessert was delivered to his table, he reportedly jumped up and shouted, “She said yes!” prompting restaurantpatrons to believe that he had just proposed.
Later that night, the Young Money rapper tweeted, “She said yes!” further fueling the engagement reports. But he later cleared up the rumors. “Ohhhhhhh now I see why! I meant ‘she said yes’ to being my valentine!!! Hahahahahahaha! Y’all krazy!” he wrote after being congratulated by his fans.

In a recent interview with the Jamaica STAR, Black Ryno explained his reasoning for calling Popcaan a copy cat; intimating that he’s not seeking an ongoing feud with his former friend.
“A di first vibes come to me at the studio and mi just work wid it. Wi nah walk round and look no lyrical feud wid no artiste, but wi just do di song. Wi throw the corn and if the fowl waan pick it up, him pick it up. Him copy mi, everybody can see dat man, from the plait up to the dress code. Mi a di original, him a knock off,\" he said.
Black Ryno also implied that Popcaan’s been afraid to accept his challenges given his supposed fear of losing.
\"Di whole Jamaica nuh see seh him fraid man,\" he said.
Meanwhile, Black Ryno continues to try and stamp his authority on Dancehall as his own entity; recently releasing well-received singles such as Rich Mi Seh (featuring Jahvinci) as well as Wine Me and Why Life Nuh Sweet, both produced by Buju Banton’s son, Markus Myrie.
For Ryno, he concedes that life post-Empire has been difficult but thinks that his big breakthrough will soon come.
“Since leaving Gaza things kinda slow down but wi a try set our foundation, a try do our work from scratch.”

ADELE IS STUNNING ON THE COVER OF VOGUE

We knew it was coming. No, we\'re not just talking about the full-on Grammy Awards sweep Adele achieved (SIX awards!) last night, but also the March 2012 cover of Vogue magazine, which just hit the fashion wires. When it was first revealed that she would be shot for the magazine, there was resounding applause from women the world over. The magazine has often been criticized for its lack of diversity where the cover is concerned, so the choice of the bodacious and beautifully curvy Adele was met with triumphant fanfare. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Pigott, she is captured in a full-lipped, cat-eyed, classic Hollywood meets Raphaelite painting sort of way, and HOLY BAZOOMBAGE is she stunning. In the accompanying cover article, she opens up to Vogue about her breakup, Grammy nods, Beyoncé, and just how she felt on the MTV VMA red carpet.

\"I\'m a big personality. I walk into a room, big and tall and loud,\" Adele tells the magazine, and it seems as if this is how they tried to capture here with similar bombast in the cover shoot. Wearing everything from a black embroidered Oscar de la Renta gown to corsetry and peasant blouses, she lounges daydream-style on fainting couches or stares at the camera with those giant peepers clutching her temples with Fratelli Orsini gloves. You simply can\'t look away; she\'s mesmerizing with those wide eyes and perfectly crimson lips. Adele was the highest selling artist of 2011, and also the biggest winner at the Grammys, and she discusses her nominations with the magazine, saying, \"I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.\"

Adele says that Beyoncé is her biggest influence too. \"I love how all of her songs are about empowerment,\" she tells Vogue, \"Even when she\'s married and Jay-Z put a ring on it, she releases \'Single Ladies.\' I think she\'s really inspiring. She\'s beautiful. She\'s ridiculously talented, and she is one of the kindest people I\'ve ever met.\" The same could be said about Adele. At a time in life when most girls are feeling awkward about relationships, Adele released not one but TWO albums by the age of 23 about a heart-wrenching breakup with her ex-boyfriend. Then she lost her voice and underwent successful throat surgery that brought her voice back (as evidenced at the Grammys) and wasn\'t afraid to open up about her insecurities surrounding it to Vogue.

But what about her thoughts on red carpet style? \"I hate the red carpet,\" she says, \"I don\'t feel insecure, I just feel like, \'Oh, I don\'t want to do this.\' I literally get a stomach cramp. At the VMAs last year I felt really out of my comfort zone because there were so many superstars there. But that\'s been the case from day one. I never feel like, \'Oh, yeah, I should be here.\'\" But she should! And perhaps she\'s coming around to that, as she looked stunning (and comfortable) in her Armani Grammy gown last night. We think she most definitely belongs in the fashion world and is here to say. So, Karl Lagerfeld? You can zip it.
