German tennis star Alexander Zverev is set to finish the 2026 season as world number one for the first time in his career.
His position was secured following Carlos Alcaraz's surprise defeat to Belgium's Zizou Bergs in the third round of the Shanghai Masters.
Current world number one Jannik Sinner has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
Zverev has enjoyed a successful year, winning his first Grand Slam title at the French Open in June, followed by the US Open last month.
