Drake's 'Janice STFU' Copyright Lawsuit Voluntarily Dismissed

October 28, 2026

A copyright infringement lawsuit filed against Canadian rapper Drake over his song Janice STFU has been voluntarily withdrawn, just ten days after it was submitted.

Producer and rapper Aviel Hirschfield had accused Drake of using a chorus he allegedly wrote and recorded in January without giving him credit or compensation.

Hirschfield claimed he had submitted the material to producers associated with Drake before discovering similarities when the rapper's ICEMAN album was released in May.

Drake's representatives strongly denied the allegations, insisting that the rapper wrote the song himself and had no connection to Hirschfield.

According to Rolling Stone, the lawsuit was withdrawn on Tuesday, October 27. No reason has been publicly confirmed for the decision.
