Cardi B Joins DJ Khaled For Smurfs Soundtrack

Cardi B is stepping into a new lane, delivering a family-friendly track for the upcoming Smurfs movie. Ditching her usual explicit style, she teams up with DJ Khaled for Higher Love, a feel-good record sampling Belinda Carlisle’s Heaven Is a Place on Earth.
The Smurfs track, released on Friday, is a departure from Cardi’s usual sound, but she still sneaks in a few clever lines that fans believe reference her ex, Offset. She raps, “Everybody need love and I need some too / Diamonds look sad ’cause each one blue … Sweet like dessert but do you deserve it? / Think about me, I’m on your mental.” Given her recent Valentine’s Day outing with NFL star Stefon Diggs, Cardi is clearly keeping her options open.
For DJ Khaled, the Smurfs song marks a much-needed positive moment after dealing with some unexpected drama. Recently, Drake sent shots his way, and a bizarre casket with anti-OVO messages appeared at Khaled’s doorstep. But with Higher Love now in rotation, he’s back to doing what he does best—dropping hits.
