Drake Could Take World Cup Stage, FIFA President Suggests

March 9, 2025

After an exciting advent in music and sports, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed his interest in bringing global ambassador Drake to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In an interview on Good Day New York, Rosanna Scotto asked Infantino whether Drake might be a candidate for the tournament’s halftime show. Scotto got the conversation started by name-dropping Drake, listing the past year when the rapper appeared at major events like the Super Bowl. “We could have a little bit of a rivalry,” she said, referring to Kendrick Lamar’s performance a few moments earlier. Infantino agreed, adding, “That’s a good idea,” and recalling an earlier moment with Drake when the host cities of the World Cup were revealed. Infantino also added, “Actually, Drake was with us when we announced the host cities. I must have his number somewhere.” The scenario implies a continuing conversation between FIFA and famous cultural figures, showing a potential partnership.
