Jeezy has been speaking with unusual candor about a quieter phase of his personal life, one that he now frames less around romance and more around routine, reflection, and time alone. In a recent appearance on TODAY on June 2, the rapper and author discussed his upcoming Las Vegas residency while also explaining why he has stepped back from dating in the aftermath of major life changes.

That shift follows a turbulent period in 2024, when Jeezy finalized his divorce from television personality Jeannie Mai after two years of marriage. The separation included a custody dispute involving their young daughter, Monaco, adding to an already closely watched personal transition. He is also a father to two older children from previous relationships, including his son Jadarius and his daughter Amra. Speaking about his current mindset, he described a deliberate effort to slow down and recalibrate. “I’m dating myself right now and I feel like, as a man, you should always take time to be with yourself,” he said. One of the more consistent rituals he mentioned is a weekly solo dinner, something he treats with the structure of a standing appointment. “I get dressed up, I do the whole thing,” Jeezy shared. “And I go out and I have a bottle of sake, a bottle of wine and my favorite sushi and date myself. I think it’s amazing.”
