Snoop Dogg confirms that he once had a pet cockroach and he is not referring to his blunt.

In an interview that was published on Tuesday (July 11), the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper told Canadian journalist Nardwuar that he couldn’t kill the insect, so he kept it and even gave it a name. “Oh yeah, Gooch used to live with me,” he recalled. “In my apartment, I had a roach that we couldn’t kill. We tried to kill the muthaf**ka when we first moved in, and he wouldn’t die so we called him ‘The Gooch.’”

“He just kept getting bigger and bigger,” Snoop Dogg added. “I stayed in that apartment for like about six, seven months. Cuz grew to the size of about a whole dollar bill… We used to leave food out for him and everything.” You can watch the full interview below.

Snoop Dogg is well known to be an animal lover. Last year, the California native launched a pet line called Snoop Doggie Doggs featuring clothing, accessories, toys, and bowls for cats and dogs. “If my dogs ain’t fresh, I ain’t fresh. These dogs and their apparel are a reflection of Tha Dogg himself, so they gotta look the role of a Top Dog, ya dig?!” he said in press release regarding the line’s launch.
